Hello, does anyone know the chances of being accepted into Columbia University's 3-week summer program? I really want to go to this program and was wondering what the chances are for people who applied early. Thanks.

Does anyone know of college programs that you can still apply to?

I am looking for programs that are in the STEM or law field and that are worth going to (not programs that just want your money and don't help a college application)? Any help is much appreciated. Also, if you have any back up suggestions for what I can do during the summer in relation to those two fields other than summer programs that'd be much appreciated! Thanks!

I got into both programs and am having a hard time picking one... I couldn't find any information about the UChi one online, has anyone been to the summer language program there? I really want to learn Latin during the summer, but so far I haven't read many good things about summer programs at Chicago. Should I just go with SSHI? HELP!
PS: also applied to TASP but probably have a low chance of getting in...(sadly, because the two mentioned above are wayyyy too expensive for my liking)

I haven't seen a discussion page for the SIMR 2020 application so I am going to start one.
I have a few questions:
How can non-locals get housing if they are under 18?
What is the Sat/Psat requirements?

Summer Programs at USC and UPenn

Hello!

I recently got into both of the summer programs I applied to: USC Exploring Entrepreneurship and UPenn Wharton Essentials of Entrepreneurship.
As you can tell, I'm interested in business, specifically entrepreneurship, and will be applying to colleges this upcoming fall mainly with business majors.
Their course dates overlap, so I'm having trouble deciding which one to attend. I'm leaning towards USC, since it's closer to home and I like the school. But, I've never visited UPenn, so I'm not sure...
Any suggestions? Or even personal experience at either of the summer programs?

Thanks!

Hello, has anybody done the MMSS program at UMich in the past? If so, is it fun and worth the cost? Do you get to learn a lot? Is it boring? Do you get enough free time? The class about the statistics of happiness seems the coolest to me. Thanks!

I was rejected from this program this year but I can offer some help for anyone else who applies in the future.

I emailed the director and she essentially said that my application was good, but I don't fit the program's target demographic.

So in the future, apply only if you live in Wyoming, are an underrepresented minority, or are a first-generation college student.

For reference: she said I had good recommendations, I had a 4.0 GPA, wrote a 300 word personal statement, submitted the online application. The program admits 12 students and has an acceptance rate of 15%.

I was rejected from this program this year but I can offer some help for anyone else who applies in the future.

I emailed the program and they said that most spots fill up well in advance of the February 1st deadline. I applied in mid January.

So in the future, apply right when applications open on November 1st (The PDF of the application questions is available online, it is a mail-in application)

Has anyone heard of or been apart of the USC Bovard Scholars Program? It seems like a great opportunity but I can't find any information on how difficult is to be accepted, and I'd also love to hear about past experiences. Thanks! (Not sure if this is the right forum, but it has a three-week summer program aspect? Wasn't sure where else to post)

Hi! I was recently accepted to this summer research program, and I was wondering if anyone has heard about it or has participated in it. Has anyone else been accepted? I'm not sure if I should accept the offer (I only have one week to indicate if I want to attend) because I don't know much about this program. Is it really competitive to get in? Does it look good for colleges? How is the overall experience? Is it better to intern separately at a lab or go to other research programs?
I would love to hear your experiences and your knowledge about this program! Thanks!

Hey all! We were where you are less than 3 years ago, stressing about summer programs and college admissions.

Fast-forward to now, the three of us are juniors at Duke, taking time off to start our own company. And we want to help you 🥳

We are building an app that lets you create rooms with your friends and classmates and match for 1-minute, 1-on-1 conversations. We think this is a way to meaningfully invest into your relationships in a way that you can't on Instagram, Snapchat, etc. 👯‍♀️

We want to pilot with high school users and in exchange we want to help you! Get you + your friend group on the app and one of us will mentor you and chat about either our college or entrepreneurial experience 👩‍💻

If you're interested, please message me (mary [at] joingravitate.com)! You can learn more about the app at www.joinglimpse.com.
