Hi guys! I was recently admitted to the summer at brown program for 2016. I am most likely going to be there on June 26 for two weeks. I was just wondering if anyone else if going to be there on June 26 and what classes are you guys taking. I am interested in science and was wondering which classes are the best. If anyone else has additional information about the program that is helpful please reply.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has attended this program. If so, what did you think of the program? Were you able to present the research at a fair like Intel or Siemens? Does attending this free program also seem better than other paid programs like Garcia and SURF programs? And is this program helpful towards admission to Princeton? Thanks!

I have gotten acceptance to UTD's nanoexplorers program. Has anyone participated in it before? What's it like? I'm pretty good in biology, but very shaky in chemistry and physics. Would it be more beneficial for me to work with a biology professor separately, or should I go for Nanoexplorers? Which one would look better on a resume? Thanks!

Summer Science Research Internship?

So over the summer, I would like to assist with either a physics or astronomy lab and basically learn how to preform scientific research. However, as a rising highschool junior, I'm worried I don't have the proper background to keep up or help, especially in the more math-orientated fields. Should I try for an easier field, despite wanting to be a physicist when I'm older, or would an actual physicist/astronomer be willing to help me? Additionally, how would I approach a researcher to ask them to join their lab? Would I come across as naive or foolish for asking them to take me on, or would they be excited to teach a young person something they're passionate about? And are there any good science labs in the seattle area, or at the University of Washington specifically? Any recommendations for this area would be great, as I'm having difficulties actually finding research labs near where I live. Any advice would be great, since I really would love to do this, but I'm not quite sure where to begin. I'm currently on the advanced track for both math and science at my school, but that just means that I'm in chemistry and honors algebra 2 as a sophomore, which isn't really that significant.

Boston Leadership Institute 2016

Greetings: I am Aracely Aguilera, and I am a junior student at Lorenzo Walker Technical High School. Recently, I have applied to the Boston Leadership Institute's Biomedical and Surgical Research program. This is a three-week residentials program offered to high school students who are interested in medicine, particularly in surgery. In addition, the Biomedical and Surgical program are filled with all sorts of activities: going on tours to see prestigious hospitals, museums, and working in a simulation lab, where we will learn how to perform a surgery. I am happy to say that I was accepted into this program! Currently, I am dual enrolled at FSW, which means I'm taking high school classes while taking college courses. Throughout high school, I've taken all honor classes and kept up with exceptional grades. I am a treasure of K is for Kids, a club run by students dedicated to supporting to giving books to children. Furthermore, I have participated in Key Club and Green Club. For the last three years of high school, I participated in the female football team, better known as Powder Puff. On top of this, I am enrolled in a nursing program and after having some experience in this class, I see myself going into either Pre-Med and into Med school to further my education and ultimately becoming a nurse anesthetist. This summer, I will be going to clinical to apply my nursing skills in assisting living facility and working along side with other nurses and patients. I plan to go to the Boston Leader Institute because it will be an enjoyable learning experience and I'd like to go to school there. As a bonus, getting into this program will mean colleges will see my involvement and passion for medicine. When I heard of BLI's Biomedical and Surgical Research, I knew I had to get into it. Two things that make BLI special to me: I want to go to school in Boston and I want to get into pre-med. Nursing has taught me a lot and I'm extremely proud that I am a nursing student, but this program will provide the experience I couldn't have had if I stayed here. I talked to my nursing instructor and the coordinator about my acceptance to BLI and approved the 3-week leave. This summer, I have clinical with my nursing class, but I promised that I would make up those hours later this year. In order to make this possible, I need financial support to be able to go on to the program. I thought by reaching out to others, I might have a chance to spread the word of my accomplishments. I have created a link, in hopes to spread the word of my accomplishments and find people who are interested in helping students like me. You can find the link here: gofundme.com/bostonleadership Thank you so much for looking into this message! Feel free to discuss BLI! I would love to hear your experiences or plans to go this summer!

How many summer classes should I take?

I'll be holding a full-time internship, which is my first priority. The classes are online and not all that challenging; they're also at a tech school and would be transferred to my university. The classes are college algebra (3 cr) and environmental issues (3 cr). I changed my major, so they're prereqs to stuff I want to take in the fall. Is it too much?

Hey, is anyone applying for SAMS at CMU this year? I'm trying to, but I have a few questions about the application process and apparently emailing them didn't work (I got a very vague and unhelpful response)... So I was wondering if I can add to the online application after pressing submit (I did it, but it wasn't complete...), and the email response I got was that I could re-edit it, but I have no idea how. I'm also clueless about how to ask my teachers for a recommendation with such a vague description on the website and no forms... Please help! Thanks! Apply to Carnegie Mellon Summer Programs for Diversity On a side note, how do I get the application for PROMYS?
