I'm super nervous because I'm a sophomore, and I ended with a C in Calc BC and a B in AP Bio first semester. My UW is 3.85 and W is 4.1.
I'm interested in applying to Stanford Humanities Institute and YYGS this year, and NSLI-Y and TASP next year.

Summer Humanities Institute 2019
Creating a forum for Summer Humanities Institute 2019. I am interested in philosophy, and I am especially interested in the topic of "The Art of Living" taught by Mr. Ken Taylor, has anyone took his classes or went to "The Art of Living" class specifically that can give any reviews? I did hear he is life-changing in his lectures. I also hear that many people apply for "Revolutions," but I am more interested in philosophy than history, though if you think that the class is well worth it, please let me know :)
Otherwise good luck with your admissions!

AMA: LaunchX (MIT Launch) '18 alum
I participated in a program called LaunchX last summer and wanted to offer my experience if anyone is considering it or wanted to learn morea bout it.
Why apply to Launch:
- the program is highly hands on. You create REAL companies and make lifelong friends.
- most companies formed at Launch continues after the conclusion of the program. I've heard of companies from two years ago still running and making enough money to be self-sufficient.
- every single lecture (maybe except the first three days) is designed to support your company growth. the lecturer (sometime guest speakers) are highly knowledgeable in their respective field and usually will stay 10 minutes after lecture to answer individual questions. You learn everything from primary market research (PMR) to professional marketing. You even get legal consulting!
- Launch reimburse some of your prototyping costs.
Do not apply to Launch if you are trying to:
- get a golden ticket to x university. While Launch team has a good relationship with their universities, it's not a golden ticket.
- just to fill your time. you simply won't get in if you aren't passionate.
Again if you have any questions about Launch, just let me know. Good luck on your applications everyone!

NYU Tisch High School Summer Programs 2019
I'm applying to Atlantic Acting Studio for 2019 but they emailed me asking if I wanted to apply to a second one too (bc of high demand) so I applied to Meisner as well. I submitted a 3.7 GPA (at a prestigious exam school) and got a recommendation from one of my old directors (who is also a casting agent in Boston) and from my classics teacher at school. I have 10+ years of theatre and MT experience. I am a rising junior. What is my likelihood of getting in? I heard it's 40% acceptance rate but that's for rising seniors I think? Any alumni want to chime in about waitline/acceptance info?
edit: think I actually applied to experimental theatre wing (EWT)

USNA Summer STEM 2019
Has anyone received notification of whether or not they made it into the program for this summer? I applied the day it opened and have not received any notification yet; I'm a little on the nervous side. For reference: I'll be a junior next year.
Best of luck to all who applied!

RIBS or RABS?
Between RIBS at UChicago and RABS at Cornell, which one would be better in terms of how prestigious it is and how good the program is??

Lots of short term research projects vs. internship at university lab?
I'm interested in pursuing either neuroscience or genetics in the future and I was wondering what the better option would be: This summer I can either do a 6 week research program meant for high schoolers to conduct their own projects OR I can intern at a lab at NYU. Both sound amazing to me, so I was wondering which would be more beneficial in getting into a university for STEM? I will likely be doing genetic research during my junior school year, so I'm leaning towards the internship, but since it's most likely that the internship is only a few days a week, I wasn't sure if this would be an ideal option for summer.

Summer Research programs for CS
Hi guys, I'm currently a sophomore in high school and I'm trying to do find a research program to do over the summer.
I am really into CS and hope to research in that field.
How is the Pioneer Academic Research Program? What about the Horizon Academic Research program?
Does anyone have any other ideas about ways I can do research or any programs that you know of. I have found a bunch but most of them are for rising seniors and not juniors or are unnecessarily expensive and seem like a scam($7000+).
Not sure if this info is required for recommending programs but I have a 4.1 unweighted GPA and am taking a couple of AP classes. I did an internship at a start up after my freshmen year.

What should I choose? (Launch X or YSPA)
Hello everyone, I am an international student from Kazakhstan and I recently got into Launch X at MIT. I'm still waiting for a decision from SSP (Astrophysics). As SSP is my top priority program, I'm still not committing to Launch X. I'm pretty nervous that I will not get into SSP as I thought of applying to YSPA in the case if I don't get into SSP. A deadline for me to commit Launch X is March 13th. I was just wondering which of the programs are more prestigious and worthwhile to spend a summer on (YSPA or Launch X). I know that both of the programs are fundamentally different, but I am interested both in entrepreneurship and science.
Thanks for everyone!

My Experience at AMP Global Scholar
If you have any hesitation about applying to this program, let me assure you: Global Scholar is the most incredible summer program out there! Whether you want to pursue a degree in international relations, have interest in public policy, or just want to become a more knowledgeable, more empathetic global citizen, this is the program for you! I loved every minute of my time at Global Scholar. Not only did I create long-lasting friendships, I was also given the necessary tools to make a true difference in my community. From meeting with economic advisers at the World Bank to having one-on-one conversations with my representatives, Global Scholar was everything I could have ever wished for (and more)!

Where should I go? (Launch X or internship)
Hello everyone, I am an international student from Kazakhstan and I recently got into Launch X at MIT. I'm super excited about this, but I was also invited to work as an intern in Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan (same as NASA, but a Kazakh one) so I am a bit hesitant of which one to choose. The thing is that I want to major in engineering and I also enjoy entrepreneurship as well as engineering. Which one of those would look better on college apps to top colleges? I know I sound foolish and I have to choose what I would enjoy doing, but I just can't decide between both of them. I am also waiting for the decision from SSP, which makes my whole summer schedule look like a mess. Thank you very much!
