Hey everyone, rising sophomore here and I am applying to this summer program. It doesn't look like there's a thread for 2019 so I went ahead and started one! I was wondering if there were any alumni or people who have applied before who could answer a couple of questions. First, how difficult is it to get in? I heard this is a pretty prestigious camp but I read somewhere on here that only 2 percent of applicants get in which is ridiculous in my opinion. Next, on your writing sample, how should I format it and what kinds of writing did y'all submit?

Can anyone recommend a computer science pre-college summer program that is not at a beginner level? I have only come across Stevens Institute of Technology so far - so would also welcome any btdt advice about their pre-college summer intermediate computer science program. Thank you!

High School Programs without Letters of Rec
Hi guys, I'm interested in doing some high school programs this summer, preferably something medical/STEM based. However, my math and science teachers have not been the best this year and I'm not comfortable asking them for letters of rec. Most summer programs need these however. Can someone point me to some programs that don't need rec letters? Thanks!

How hard is it to get into pre college summer programs (Brown, Carnegie Mellon, UChicago RIBS)?
I'm a sophomore and I want to get into a summer program at a college before junior year, since I will be applying for an internship at a nearby lab the summer after junior year. I will be applying as soon as possible, but since the application deadlines are in around a month, I was wondering how difficult it would be to get into these programs by now.

Competition between internationals
Hey guys, I have asked this question on another forum, but I will ask it here too. I am an international student applying to the astrophysics program in SSP (Summer Science Program) and my friend is applying to SSP too but to biochemistry program. The problem is that I and my friend are from the same country (and the same school...). Do you think if there is going to be a competition between me and him if we are applying to different "sub-programs"? I am not trying to be hypocritical, but his SAT scores are well higher than mine and I am pretty much concerned about it.

Summer programs in field ecology/env studies/ag/botany?
D20 is interested in a summer pre-college program focused on field ecology, environmental studies, agriculture, or botany (wide range of interests, for sure). So far we've found:
* College of the Atlantic Islands Through Time program
* Summer in Sewanee Pre-College Field Studies program
* Smith College Field studies in sustainability program
* Mount Holyoke Restoration Ecology Summer Program - have to be local
Any reviews of these programs or other recommendations? Probably looking for a 1-3 week experience (vs. longer) and of course affordability would be great!

Summer Program - ResearcHStart University of Chicago
Hey guys, I recently applied for ResearcHStart at the University of Chicago and I was wondering if anyone has gotten an interview yet. The interviews start on the 18th so I was thinking that the confirmation should have come already.

SCS Noonan Scholars vs NSLI-Y Korea Summer
I know it’s early to assume I got into any of these programs, but I don’t know which one I would pick if I had to decide between both of them. The first one appears to be very focused on application and college aid with classes in writing and calculus. The second program is a study abroad program by the Department of State that focuses on language learning. While I feel like NSLI-Y would be more fun, I am also scared that not pick SCS is shooting myself im the foot. What do you guys think. Any experience with either?

Governor's School for Medicine and Health Sciences Question
I understand that this program is especially selective, even for a Governor's School program. Can anyone who has been accepted before share their experience applying? And also, what are the "recommended" number of points to have a decent shot at getting accepted? Only 26 people are accepted by the way.

PA Governors Schools for 2019
For Pitt PA Global Studies 2019, how many students are accepted in the program each year, and can a student reapply if they are not accepted the first year? Are all these programs renewed every year or does it depend on state funding? It's nice to see programs in addition to the traditional STEM governor's schools. Thanks in advance for any information.

M&TSI Pay before submitting?!
Hi! I'm new here and I really want to apply to M&TSI but it says I need to pay the $75 before I can even see the application. That doesn't make sense to me, but I can't seem to find the application using another method. Do I actually need to pay the money before filling out the application? Any help is appreciated.

Summer internship/Research opportunities in STEM if you are 15 yr old
Hi, I am a 15yr old sophomore looking for summer internships or research opportunities in STEM, however it seems most places have 16yr as limit (NASA, Stanford, etc.). Any suggestions for places (Universities, colleges, institutes) that will accept 15yr old for internships (excluding summer courses, etc.).
