I have recently been accepted into a program at USF. Has anyone been to one of their programs, and if so, how was it? I was specifically wondering about the STEM Scholars 2 program.

I have recently been offered a full scholarship to Rosetta Institute's Molecular Neuroscience Workshop this summer at UCSD. I would really like to know what the program is like and if any of the CC users have had the opportunity of going there or are going to.

What is the best summer enrichment program in terms of boosts in college admission chances?

Hey guys! I am a freshman thinking about my future. I know I will be doing a teen tour in my summer going into Sophmore year, and being a CIT (basically a full councilor that doesn’t get paid) at my camp for the summer going into Senior year, which will give me a lot of service hours. My question comes for the summer coming into Junior year. What is the best thing for me to do in that summer? A summer at Harvard? A summer at Exeter? (Assuming I dont end up achieving my dream and some how going—although its likely I won’t be able to attend, sadly) A summer at some other enrichment program? A community service tour? Or something different altogether? Thanks, guys! I look forward to hearing what you all have to say. P.S. Be easy on me, this is my first time stepping outside of the Prep School Admissions section on CC!

Hello Everyone! I am a sophomore in high school and I have been accepted into the Columbia High School Summer Program (Session I) for 'Entrepreneurship and Innovation: New Product Development'. After reading innumerable articles and watching videos about the program, I have understood that like everything else, the Columbia High School Summer Program has its own pros and cons. I am an International student (India) and since middle school I have my own community service project, I have already done an internship and my co-curriculars are up to a good level. However, I have never visited The United States or visited a college before, yet, I am a US Citizen and will be applying to Colleges/Universities there in the future. Hence, I am looking forward to make new friends, create new memories, learn about different cultures but most importantly, get a feel of the ever busy city, New York and my dream college, Columbia University in the City of New York. Also, if any of the previous students can share more information on what was done there on a daily basis, i.,e., how many trips were conducted, how liberal was the residential option, were you allowed to leave campus anytime you wanted, how much money is required to be carried by an individual, etc.. I would love to know if anyone else is attending the program and if we could get in touch before hand because I have never been on my own before and I am a tad bit scared to make new friends. I would really appreciate all the help I could get as I am very nervous for the program. Thank You

UCSB RMP (Research Mentorship Program)

I’ve written about this program before. You can use the search button to find old threads. Thirteen alumni from the program are freshman at Stanford this year. This doesn’t mean that you’ll get accepted to Stanford but it does suggest that you can do some meaningful research if you work hard and are able to get a good mentor.

I was just accepted to be a Senate Page this summer, first term! Anyone else doing this program? How much, if at all, will this help my college application? Also, if anyone has any advice/things to expect, that would be much appreciated!

Sophie Davis Medical Program

I’m a high school junior and just attended a college fair. I’m very interested in the Sophie Davis Program. I just wanted to hear any thoughts from students who attend, or prospective freshman. I’ve heard great things about it but also that it’s not a real college experience, which is very important to me. Also how is the social aspect not just the academic? (sorry i posted this under the wrong forum topic)

I recently got into the Columbia High School Summer Program and I was wondering if I should do it. I am a bit on the fence here because of many things. One, the price. The price is a no-go because it's almost $6,000 for 3 weeks with (i think) no college credits. I am not sure if its worth it, however, the course is something I am super passionate about. It's Introduction to Neuroscience: Understanding the Brain. I have gone to great lengths to get recommendations from teachers so if I don't do it I feel like it would have gone to waste. Please let me know if you or anyone you know has done it and what they liked and didn't like about it.

I was just looking around for some info on the √mathroots program at MIT over the summer and realized nobody had posted anything about it for this year. What I've found so far: -Only 20 people were accepted in 2015 (haven't found anything more recent) -They send decisions around the middle of April I really haven't found much else, and if anyone comes across anything else, please leave a post (and if people from previous years can comment on the number of applicants and number of people accepted, that would be much appreciated). I would love to hear from others that have applied. Best of luck!

Job vs. Internship

I have been accepted into a semi-competitive internship (Teens in Public Service) and a job at the YMCA as a day camp counselor. I am unsure which one to accept. The internship would be at a nonprofit organization and would involve running/designing a day camp. I am unsure which position I should accept as the YMCA job is much more convenient to reach also jobs shows leadership. Any insight on what colleges would prefer or what seems more beneficial would be incredibly helpful.

Hi guys, I applied to five summer programs this year and I got rejected to 4 of them. I really don't see myself going to the fifth one that I got accepted into. Is there any programs that are available (preferably science based) that I could apply to right now? Thank you
