I'm applying to the Stanford Summer Humanities Institute this summer, and I just completed the drafts of my responses to the application prompts. Since this is my first time applying to a selective summer program (and I'm just an overall anxious person haha), I was wondering if anyone wouldn't mind reading mine? YYGS or COSMOS?

I was accepted to YYGS ASE III (which I am ecstatic about!) and it happens in mid July, 2020. The enrolment deadline in January 9 whereas the COSMOS application doesn’t open until January 6. I’d like to attend the machine learning cluster (cluster 2) in UC Irvine, but it’ll probably be more competitive than the other clusters.

So I was wondering, for all you YYGS and/or COSMOS alumni, which program would you guys prefer? As much detail as possible would be appreciated, thank you!!

I'd like to apply to some programs that don't require teacher recommendations. I want to apply to a lot of summer programs (in case I don't get to most of them), and I feel bad asking my teachers for a lot of recs. I'm mostly interested in research, STEM, but also writing and art.

QuestBridge Applications 2020

Hi everybody, I haven't seen a recent discussion for QuestBridge applications for 2020 yet so here it is. Could any Questbridge alumni or applicants provide some more insight into this program?

From what I've read so far it looks like a fairly selective and comprehensive business summer program, however, I'm still unsure about the legitimacy of this program due to the fact that it has hundreds of spots across multiple programs. I'm looking at its 10 day startup camp right now because it seems to be the best value for me. Can anybody vouch for its startup camp or if students actually create startups during the camp? Thanks!

Hi everyone!

Is anyone else thinking (way too early) about whether they will get accepted to GS in 2020? :) I made it past the district level and an alum said I should be very proud! However, I fully expect to be rejected at the state level, so I am revealing my discipline only if I get accepted in March.

Nevertheless, applying was a great opportunity and I am already looking forward to hearing about the experiences of those accepted.

Congrats to everyone who's made it past their school district, and hope to hear from you here!

(Yes, you can use this thread to discuss roommates/campuses/etc in the spring even if I post my rejection.)

CTY summer camp Humanities and writing courses

I would like to send my younger son to CTY summer camp. My older one went one summer and I personally feel CTY is a good choice to kick off the sleepaway camp. I understand it's more about hanging out than actually learning. Nevertheless, with such high price, I still like my younger one to take a bit out from the course. My son absolutely hate the writing or any English class. I feel it's only fair he balances the fun nightlife at CTY and the daytime a bit. Anyone has taken CTY's humanities or writing courses? Any feedback? Only 4 choices available: Big Questions, Model United Nations and Advanced Geography, Writing and Imagination, and Heroes and Villains.
