Hi is there any past participants willing to give insight on this summer program? Also any current applicants out there??

What are some of the most prestigious summer programs (Yale,RSI, SSP,etc)?

Hello, I am inquiring about how good some summer programs are. If you get accepted to RSI, do you have one foot in the door for T20s / MIT? How good is Yale Young Global Scholars? It has a pretty high acceptance rate and accepts a lot of people. Does that help? How good is SSP (sponsored by MIT and Caltech)? It has an okay acceptance rate of around 10% I have applied but don't know the results yet. On their website it says more than 70% of alum end up at Ivy Leagues, MIT, and Caltech. Does that program help them get into university or were they qualified enough to go to an Ivy the first place? Would you choose SSP over Garcia Scholars? Also, how good is LaunchX? Is that program prestigious and does it look good on your resume? Thank you all.

NASA SEES 2019

I'm really curious about people's experiences at the NASA SEES internship program. Is it all work and no play? How much autonomy/responsibility do you feel you were given on your project? What's the level of research like? Additionally, how much learning were you required to do before flying over to Austin? (And the reluctant, but ever-present question: did it help with college admissions?) Any input would be helpful, as there's a terrible lack of threads on this lol. Thanks!

Hi! I was recently accepted into PACT 2019 and was wondering if there's anyone else who got accepted? Also, for alumni, how difficult is it? I am worried that my level is not strong enough. I don't know calculus or anything.. I read that discrete math is taught, but to what level?

Hey guys, I didn’t see any space for the 2019-2020 YES Abroad people... Did anyone else apply? How’d it go? And does anyone know how the rolling admissions go? Like are finalists called first?

Hello, did anyone else in high school apply to the Army HSAP program for this summer? I read that the placement rate in 2017 (haven't seen anything for 2018) was 9%, so I won't get my hopes up too high. Just posting this thread to discuss the program.

High School Curriculum

Our school does not allow AP classes until junior year and does not weight the honors classes in 9th or 10th grade. The number of AP classes are also quite low vs other schools in the same school district. Our school counselors/administrators keep saying that colleges will look at us based on the context of each school and how rigorous our schedule is. My thoughts are 1) even regional reader for each college does not have the bandwidth to know and keep up with the individual school district he/she is responsible for, let alone each school in that district. 2) So the most number of AP classes I can take at my school is around 10, in junior and senior year. Am I not disadvantaged vs kids from some of the other schools where they can take AP classes starting 9th grade. Just like to see what people's thoughts are: do colleges really evaluate each candidate in the context of their school? Is it even possible? I know colleges say this too but I think it's their way of not pissing off a lot of the schools that cannot offer that many rigorous classes, esp if you bring in curriculums at private schools. Thank you.

So I applied for UC Berkeley pre-college summer residential program. After I got admitted, I contracted the flu and couldn't focus on the program. Then, my parents realized that the tuition is too high and wanted me to cancel, but I realized that I missed the deadline for cancellation. I am still responsible for the full fee, which is super expensive. What should I do?

Summer programs in field ecology/env studies/ag/botany?

D20 is interested in a summer pre-college program focused on field ecology, environmental studies, agriculture, or botany (wide range of interests, for sure). So far we've found: * College of the Atlantic Islands Through Time program * Summer in Sewanee Pre-College Field Studies program * Smith College Field studies in sustainability program * Mount Holyoke Restoration Ecology Summer Program - have to be local Any reviews of these programs or other recommendations? Probably looking for a 1-3 week experience (vs. longer) and of course affordability would be great!

NYLF Summer Program

Is the NYLF engineering summer program worth the money? I’m also considering the Summer@Brown summer program. They both are really different. I’m pretty sure at the NYLF one you have a schedule that everyone does and you’re busy all day doing all types of different engineering stuff. At the Brown one you take one course and get the rest of the day to go to college admissions seminars, do the homework from the class and go in the college town.

COSMOS UCI 2019

Hi guys! I'm currently a sophomore and just got admitted into COSMOS UCI for cluster 1 yesterday. I'm debating whether or not attending the camp is worthwhile enough to justify the tuition so feel free to provide some of your opinions on this matter. Also, this forum in general can be used as a discussion platform between COSMOS applicants, not just COSMOS UCI applicants.
